Evolence not to be manufactured by Johnson & Johnson
On November 4, Johnson & Johnson announced it would no longer be manufacturing its cosmetic filler, Evolence. In a letter Johnson & Johnson stated they are not discontinuing the product because of safety concerns and they are trying to sell the product to another company at this time. The Wall Street Journal reports the product was launched during the financial downturn and met with disappointing sales as this is a cosmetic treatment not covered by medical insurance. Additionally J&J needs to fire over 8,000 employees due to its financial woes. This comes as disappointing news to Babcock Dermatology as this was the only collagen filler on the market with long staying power.
